High Quality and Locally sourced
Meet our Suppliers
We are passionate about using small, local suppliers wherever possible. As a family run business, we know how important it is to support other similar businesses, but also the people we work with share our love for Yorkshire and the people within it.
The obvious benefits of local suppliers in terms of our carbon footprint are clear but it is also just wonderful to work with others who just “get it”.
We hope that by understanding a little more about where our stock comes from, it will help you to share our passion for all things local.
23rd Street, Food Co
Husband and Wife duo Chris and Chie Molder are the fabulous people who supply our Sourdough products, homemade crumpets, granola and our legendary cinnamon rolls. Chris originally hails from the United States hence his love for the Cinammon roll!
They have converted the whole of the downstairs of their home in Selby into an artisan bakery and we are really proud to be supporting another Husband and Wife small business team. Chris is the most passionate baker and he and Clare have spent many an hour getting excited about all the products he makes. Watch this space for future items as Chris is working hard to create us our own Malt bread to go with his amazing sourdough. We can’t wait!
T-Post
The collaboration we have made with Declan and his team at the T-Post in South Milford is very special to us. We consider Declan a good friend and have been big fans of everything he has created at his beautiful venue.
It was a no brainer for us to approach him to create the most amazing desserts for us when we first thought about opening Malt.
We have worked together to produce what we think is a really great selection of T-Post at Malt desserts – all a little different from the items he serves in his own venue but absolutely showcasing his talents and those of his team. Incredible.
CLO Coffee
Another amazing husband and wife team – Nick and Linda Castle are our coffee roasters based out of premises just up the road in Micklefield. Originally, Nick and Linda were the proud owners of CLO coffee shop in Garforth. As part of the shop they started roasting their own coffee on their premises and loved it so much that they decided to make coffee roasting their main business.
They are absolutely passionate about their coffee and especially about the people and places who supply the beans for them to roast. We are excited to be working with them and sharing their passion for a great cup of coffee!
Street Shoots
It may seem like a small thing but our micro greens which we use to make our platters look so delicious, are really important to us!
They are grown specially for us by our Jamie at micro business, Street Shoots in Monk Fryston.
So sustainable and local – just what we love.
Field Lane Honey Bees
Wendy at Field Lane Honey Bees in Hambleton actually went to school with Clare! She produces wonderful local honey which we use both in some of our cocktails and food offerings.
We also sell her honey in our retail range. The health benefits of honey made from local bees is well established helping to reduce the affects of seasonal allergies. The fact that it tastes so wonderful is an added benefit of course!
Cryer & Stott Cheesemongers
Cryer & Stott are based in Allerton Bywater near Castleford and have been supplying and making cheese since1998. They have won many awards for their cheeses including their Duke of Wellington Blue which has won both gold and silver awards at the world cheese awards.
They are suppliers to the royal family but that’s nothing in comparison to being our suppliers of choice! Clare and Ants have enjoyed may tastings with the fabulous Richard and Jemma at Cryer & Stott and their cheeses are simply wonderful. Come along and try then and you will be hooked too.
Starkeys
As soon as we decided to do a Yorkshire platter, we just knew we would need to include our very own Starkey’s award winning pork pies. Starkeys are located right opposite the bar and so couldn’t be any more local if they tried.
We are enjoying working with Graham and his team and will be looking to expand the collaboration beyond pork pies in the near future.
Nailmakers Distillery
Dave Owens is someone Clare met through her work in Wakefield, and his passion for all things Gin, Rum and Vodka is infectious. He distils his fabulous products in Darton near Barnsley and we know you are going to love them!
We are looking forward to working with Dave and developing more products over time and inviting Dave over for some tasting events in the near future.
Barrique Fine Wines
When you open a new bar you are inundated with people wanting to supply you with wine. Barrique were recommended to us by one of our favourite bars – Pairings in York. Barrique are a relatively small and new supplier of fine wines based out of Ossett brewery. As soon as we met Jack we were sold.
He talked to us without a lot of the wine snobbery that can exist in the industry and his passionate love of great wines made the choice to use Barrique a no brainier. Jack will be offering some fabulous tasting and learning events at Malt in the coming months too.
